Should I go to Berkeley or Claremont (Mudd)? PLEASE HELP!?

Well if you want a degree from somewhere people have heard of outside of California then Berkeley. Also, I take a lot of exception to institutions which boast that "Professors are chosen because they want to teach not do research". Our teaching as professors is a product of our scholarship. A professor who does not keep at the forefront of her/his discipline through active engagement in research is very, very unlikely to be a good teacher, irrespective of the strengths of that person's teaching techniques.
