Went on veggie fast and cant stop farting?

They smell aweful too, and oh yea, I've pooped alot. I started the fast last night and I am wondering when these unpleasant symptoms will go away? Don't even say take gas X, that stuff makes me feel like my stomach is going to literally explode, it must not be a good idea to stop up yer farts
